Luka Doncic Speaks on Mavericks and GM Donnie Nelson Parting Ways

by TLD

The Dallas Mavericks have made headline news quite a few times since their season ended after a first-round loss to the LA Clippers. With the uncertainty that the Dallas front office could get Luka Doncic enough help to bring them to championship contention, moves began to get made.

The first domino to fall was the Mavericks “mutually agreeing” to part ways with GM Donnie Nelson, who had been with the team for almost a quarter of a century.

The next day, Doncic spoke to Marc Stein of The New York Times and other reports while in Slovenia with his national team on Donnie Nelson’s Mavericks exit.

“It was kind of tough to me. I really like Donnie. I know him since I was a kid and he was the one that drafted me. It was tough for me seeing that, but I’m not the one making decisions there.”

From there, it was later announced that Mavericks Head Coach Rick Carlisle had made the decision to step away from the team.

As Owner Mark Cuban begins the search for a new general manager and head coach, the Dallas Mavericks will look to keep Luka Doncic happy, who’s expected to sign a max contract extension with the team in the coming weeks.
