Warriors expecting Andre Iguodala to return for 22-23 season – report

by TLD

Amid the ongoing buzz and wondering about their future, the defending champ Golden State Warriors are optimistic to run it back again with Andre Iguodala.

Per league insider Marc Stein, the Dubs are expecting that Iguodala will return for another season, but they are preparing for that possibility that he’ll finally hang his basketball sneakers on one end.

“The only certainty regarding Iguodala’s plans for the coming season is that he intends to announce his play-or-retire decision at age 38 on his weekly podcast with Evan Turner. The Warriors, I’m told, do expect Iguodala to play for one more season but are prepared for any outcome and are also open to bringing the 18-year veteran back on his timetable.”

It was already announced by Iguodala himself that he intends to declare his decision about his future in an episode of his “Point Forward” podcast. Given the current duration he is taking before finally hitting the podium, anxiety and doubts are truly swirling on the side of the Bay Area faithful.

Though they are giving the veteran a much needed space to contemplate, both Steve Kerr and Bob Myers have already expressed their desire for Iguodala to reignite another partnership. Provided that they have allotted their final roster spot for him, it only shows how the swingman was being valued within the ball club.

In his second stint for the Warriors, Iguodala played a major role for mentorship purposes and occasional contribution off the bench. Averaging four points, 3.7 assists and 3.2 rebounds in 19.5 minutes per game for just 31 games, he was eventually bothered by knee and back issues.
